Description
Infrared Obstacle Avoidance IR SensorÂ
The Infrared Obstacle Avoidance Sensor is an electronic sensing device used to detect nearby objects without physical contact. It works by transmitting infrared (IR) light and detecting the reflected light from an obstacle. This module is widely used in robotics, automation, and smart sensing applications due to its simplicity, fast response, and low cost.
Working Principle
The sensor consists of an IR transmitter (IR LED) and an IR receiver (photodiode or phototransistor).
-
The transmitter emits infrared light continuously.
-
When an object comes in front of the sensor, the IR light reflects back.
-
The receiver detects the reflected light and generates a signal.
-
An onboard comparator processes the signal and provides a digital output indicating the presence of an obstacle.
The detection distance can be adjusted using the onboard potentiometer.
