Description

Gesture Controlled Robot – Full Project Description

The Gesture Controlled Robot is an innovative embedded systems and robotics project that allows a mobile robot to be controlled wirelessly using human hand gestures. Instead of traditional buttons or joysticks, the system interprets real-time hand movements and translates them into motion commands for the robot, creating a natural and intuitive human–machine interface.

This project demonstrates the practical integration of sensors, wireless communication, microcontrollers, and motor control, making it ideal for academic projects, robotics competitions, and IoT demonstrations.

Working Principle

The project consists of two main units:

1. Gesture Control Unit (Transmitter – Hand Module)

The gesture control unit is worn on the user’s hand in the form of a glove. It continuously detects hand movements and orientation using motion sensors. These movements are processed by a microcontroller and sent wirelessly to the robot.

2. Robot Unit (Receiver – Mobile Robot)

The robot receives the wireless data, interprets the gesture commands, and drives the motors accordingly to move forward, backward, left, right, or stop.

System Architecture

Gesture Control Unit

  • Motion sensor detects hand tilt and direction

  • Microcontroller processes sensor data

  • Wireless module transmits commands

  • Powered by a portable battery
