Description

Tomato Disease Prediction and Nutrients Monitoring System Using Raspberry Pi

This project presents an IoT-based Tomato Disease Prediction and Nutrients Monitoring System designed to help farmers and researchers monitor plant health and soil conditions in real time. The system integrates image processing, sensor technology, and cloud-based data visualization to improve crop productivity and reduce losses caused by plant diseases and nutrient imbalance.

System Overview

The system uses a Raspberry Pi as the central processing unit. A web camera continuously captures images of tomato plant leaves, which are analyzed using image processing techniques to detect possible disease symptoms. At the same time, soil nutrient and pH sensors measure essential parameters required for healthy plant growth.

All collected data is uploaded to the ThingSpeak cloud platform, allowing users to monitor plant conditions remotely using a computer or mobile device.

Major Components Used

  • Raspberry Pi – Main controller and processing unit

  • Web Camera – Captures real-time images of tomato leaves

  • NPK Sensor – Measures Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Potassium levels

  • pH Sensor – Monitors soil acidity and alkalinity

  • ThingSpeak Cloud – Stores and visualizes sensor data

  • Display Monitor – Shows disease detection results and sensor readings

  • Power Supply and Interface Modules

Working Principle

  1. The web camera captures images of tomato leaves.

  2. The Raspberry Pi processes the images to detect visual disease symptoms.

  3. NPK and pH sensors continuously measure soil nutrient conditions.

  4. Sensor and image data are sent to ThingSpeak via the internet.

  5. Users can monitor disease status and nutrient levels remotely.

  6. Based on data analysis, early preventive action can be taken.

Key Features

  • Real-time plant disease prediction

  • Continuous soil nutrients and pH monitoring

  • Cloud-based remote access using ThingSpeak
